Millet Idli is a very tasty recipe made with millet.The healthy and tasty option for Idli lovers.Brinjal Gosthu and Peanut Chutney are the accompaniment dish with Idli.
Ingredients
For Millet Idli
- Millet – 50 grams ( soaked overnight)
- Semolina(suji) – 100 grams
- Curd – 50 grams
- Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
- Water – 100 ml
For Chidambaram Brinjal Gosthu
- Brinjal – 2 pieces small
- Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
- Chana dal – 1 teaspoon
- Tamarind juice – 50 ml
- Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves – 1 spig
- Asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
- Mustard oil -5 ml
For Peanut Chutney
- Peanut – 50 gram
- Asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves – 2 pieces
- Whole red chilli – 1 piece
Procedure
For Millet Idli
- Grind the soaked millet into a fine paste in the mixer.
- Add semolina,salt and Curd to it.
- Mix well.
- Keep it aside for atleast 10 minutes.
- Add water to adjust the mixture to a medium consistency solution.
- Add baking soda to the mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to idli bowls after greasing the bowls.
- Steam the idli for atleast 15 minutes.
- Check the making of idli by using a knife.If the material does not stick to the knife it’s done.
- Take out the idli and serve hot.
For Chidambaram Brinjal Gosthu
- Cut the Brinjal into long pieces.
- Put it for boiling in a covered kadhai.
Remove from flame and keep aside for cooling. - Make a course paste in mixer after it cools down.
Take a kadhai and add oil. - Add asafoetida, coriander powder,red chilli powder, curry leaves, mustard seeds and chana dal.
- Cook for few minutes till the aroma of the cooked masala is generated.
- Add tamarind juice to the mixture.Let it come to boil .
- Add boiled Brinjal paste into the mixture.
Your Chidambaram Brinjal Gosthu is ready.
For Peanut Chutney
- Peanut Chutney can be made by roasting peanuts and grinding them in a mixer.
- We then temper it with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida adjust Salt.
- Add water to keep the consistency medium.
Serve Millet Idli with Chidambaram Brinjal Gosthu and Peanut Chutney.
