Dahi Aloo is an extremely tasty and healthy dish popular in North India that is easy to prepare and can be curry dish to be consumed with rice or roti.
Ingredients
- Potato – 4 pieces (medium, boiled , peeled)
- Curd – 100 grams
- Onion – 1 piece (chopped)
- Garlic – 4 to 5 pods (chopped)
- Ginger – 1 inch ( julienne)
- Asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Whole Red chilli – 1 piece
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala – 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Green Coriander leaves – 1 teaspoon (chopped )
- Salt – to taste
- Water – 1.5 cups
- Mustard oil – 5ml
Procedure
- Take a large kadhai and add oil .Temper with asafoetida, cumin seeds and Whole Red chilli.
- Add garlic, ginger and onion. Cook till oil seeps out of the mixture.
- Add masalas – coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder ,cumin powder and garam masala powder.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Take curd and churn it with spoon. Add into the onion and masala mixture.
- Keep on moving the spatula while curd is added in the mixture.
Continue the process till you see reddish colour of the oil separating out. - Add cut pieces of boiled Potatoes.
- Add salt and water. Let the mixture come to boil. Switch off the gas immediately.
Garnish with green coriander. - Serve hot with roti or rice.
