This is a very tasty and healthy dish that is easy to make.
Ingredients
- Lobia (one eyed kidney beans)or Chawli – 100 grams
- Onion – 1 piece
- Tomato – 1 piece
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Garlic – 2 to 3 cloves
- Hing (asafoetida) – 1/4 teaspoon
- Zeera (cumin seeds) – 1/2 teaspoon
- Lal mirch sabut (red chili) – 1 piece
- Coriander powder – 2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
- Lal mirch powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Chole masala – 1teaspoon
- Pav bhaji masala – 1teaspoon
Procedure
Lobia Masala is a very rich source of protein and tastes really good with chapati and rice. Though it is not as popular as rajma or chole but it is a very good option for healthy home food.
- Lobia needs to be soaked 3 – 4 hours or overnight and boiled in cooker with 8 -10 whistles.
- Either chop onion, tomato, ginger , garlic or make a paste of all.
- Temper in Kadhai with hing, zeera , lal mirch sabut . Put the paste or chopped vegetables .
- Cook well and add dhaniya powder, haldi powder , lal mirch powder. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
- To enhance flavors add Chole masala and Pav bhaji masala .
- A good cooking of masala leads to good taste. So give it some time . Let it cook well.
- Let the oil seep out .Let the flavor of the masala take over.
- Then add the boiled lobia to the masala. Cook for 5 – 10 minutes.
- Garnish with Green coriander and chat masala.
